At a glittering function
at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai Amrita Thapar
was crowned Pond’s Femina Miss India
Universe 2005 on March 27, 2005.
Sindoora
Gadde and Niharika were crowned Ponds Femina
Miss India World and Earth respectively.
The
panel of judges for the event included famous
bollywood actress and TV hostess Pooja Bedi,
columnist Shobhaa De film superstar Kareena
Kapoor, businessman Anand Mahindra, action
hero Sunil Shetty, designer Rocky S, former
Femina Miss India 2001Celina Jaitley, Executive
Editor of the Times Jaideep Bose and Olympic
silver medallist Lt Col Rajyavardhan Rathore
It
was a star studded evening and the audience
was enthralled by performances by music
band Bombay Rockers, film star Yana Gupta,
Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant amongst other
popular TV actors.
The
audience watched on with rapt attention
as the 23 contestants dazzled them in jewellery
in white gold that has been sponsored by
Kiah. Apart from the adornments the contestants
were wearing on stage, the 23 lovely ladies
have also had sessions to understand diamonds
better by Kiah. After all, diamonds are
a girl's best friend.
As
everyone waited with bated breath the three
winners were crowned with real diamond crowns
for the first time in the history of Femina
Miss India. Each crown inspired by three
of nature’s elements viz. Wind, Fire
and Water truly reflected the hard work
and craftsmanship that went into the making
of the crowns.
